Working with ancient techniques and modern tools I merge these different eras into timeless pieces of art. My work is predominately fabricated, meaning that I hammer, saw, form and construct one of a kind and limited edition pieces. Some of my favorite techniques are chasing and repousse’, which I do in the Florentine style, forging and patination. Many of my patina blends are of my own creation, as I find commercial solutions too uniform and predictable. Forging, chasing and repousse’ allow me to use hammers and punches to create organic flowing forms from flat sheet and wires, thus pushing the boundaries of the material.
From the initial design to the final product each piece is an expression of my passion for challenging metals to go beyond the expected and my desire to translate the natural world into a portable treasure.
